Body Psychotherapy
Body Psychotherapy is a type of Psychotherapy, which incorporates the idea that emotions affect the physical body as well as the mind.
Psychotherapy consists of a series of techniques for treating mental health, emotional and some psychiatric disorders. Psychotherapy helps the patient understand what helps them feel positive or anxious, as well as accepting their strong and weak points. If people can identify their feelings and ways of thinking they become better at coping with difficult situations. Body Psychotherapy takes the basis of this practice and adds other techniques which acknowledge the involvement of the physical body, such as, Biodynamic Massage, Gestalt dialogue, role play, visualisation and guided imagery, dreamwork and creative expression through drawing, moving etc. Many people report that the combination of talking therapy and bodywork is a powerful form of releasing mental and physical tension that leaves them feeling calmer and more grounded. |
