The Stress Project was delighted to be invited to the Arsenal football team's training event on 5th December.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Per Mertesacker, Arsenal's captain, who joined our Yoga class on Monday at their training ground. Per told us that he practises Yoga and it has really helped his recovery from a knee injury. In fact, he has introduced Yoga to the Arsenal team and says that many of the players now participate.
We had time to talk about mental health and Per's particular interest in the work of the Stress Project. We discussed how footballers may experience anxiety, stress and performance stress.
We explained that some therapies such as Mindfulness and Yoga can be effective in reducing symptoms of stress and can help manage mental health problems.
You don't have to be a professional footballer to join our weekly Mindfulness Drop-in sessions and Yoga classes - all are welcome.
