Administrator
We are seeking a confident and responsive administrator to support our small team in delivering our massive offer to the local community. It’s a person focused role, with time split between the front desk at The Old Fire Station and as the first point of contact at the Stress Project.
The ideal candidate will be:
-Flexible and unflappable, juggling lots of tasks, balancing a wide range of priorities and getting stuff done, while providing a warm welcome to our members.
-Self-motivated, able to work independently, across two sites.
-Tech savvy, with some experience of and ability to learn loads of different computer packages from word and excel to booking systems and finance programmes to Facebook and Instagram
It’s not an essential, but we are a local charity and the role would suit someone with connections to the area, who has a vested interest in improving the quality of life for those living in Nag’s Head and the Finsbury Park ward of Islington.
Normal office hours are Monday to Friday 9.30 till 5. As a charity dedicated to promoting good mental health we are committed to staff wellbeing and support flexible working. For this reason the terms are open and negotiable.
28 – 35 hours a week, paid £24,000 pro rata.

The Stress Project Therapy Centre is part of Holloway Neighbourhood Group. Our therapeutic services are for people experiencing stress and mental health challenges. We provide range of volunteering opportunities including counselling placements, gardening, complementary therapy placements and administrative roles.

Can you work with our activity facilitators to ensure the smooth running of activities and events for service users and clients in a small therapy centre? If so, we are looking for you!
We are looking for someone who:
- Is friendly and approachable, and sensitive to the range of abilities and needs of the people that we support.
- Can maintain confidentiality and deal with any sensitive or difficult conversations with tact.
- Is available for at least a day per week, during office hours – or a nearly full day.
- Has an understanding and awareness of Mental Health.
Duties will include:
- Setting up the Earth Room on the ground floor before and after the various activities begin, including the equipment, chairs, hot beverage preparation, tidying up, etc.
- Undertaking daily maintenance inspections of the building and carrying out daily maintenance tasks such as laundering towels, watering plants and taking out the recycling.
- Providing basic assistance to the activity facilitators, as needed.

Wellbeing Group Facilitator
The Wellbeing Group is a safe, relaxed place where people experiencing mental and emotional health problems can receive support in an informal environment without the need for an appointment. It's open on Tuesday morning, from 10.30am to 12noon.
We are looking for volunteers provide a listening, supportive environment for the clients who use the service, some of whom attend on a regular basis, and others who come in occasionally.
Volunteers should have good listening skills, be able to offer encouragement to people attending and help to signpost people to other services.
We are looking for a commitment of one morning a week (Tuesday), 10am to 12.30pm, ideally for a full year. Full training and travel expenses provided.

We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in using IT for administrative purposes
- Has good written and spoken English skills
- Is friendly and approachable, and sensitive to the range of abilities and needs of the people that we support
- Can maintain confidentiality and deal with any sensitive or difficult conversations with tact
- Is available for at least a day per week, during the above hours – or nearly a full day.
- Understanding and awareness of Mental Health
Duties will include:
- Responding to general enquiries received by email, telephone and in person
- Assisting members of staff, therapists and hirers with room bookings and maintaining systems for recording this information
- Undertaking daily maintenance inspections of the building and carrying out daily maintenance tasks such as laundering towels, watering plants and taking out the recycling
- Helping to design publicity materials and disseminating them in the local area
- Assisting with updating our website and social media sites
- Handling petty cash and processing client fee payments
- Using office systems and documents, which include Microsoft Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and our database

In-Touch (Our friendly chat service) Volunteer
SUMMARY OF ROLE
Supporting people who are facing social isolation by maintaining regular telephone contact – making time for a friendly chat and signposting to support services.
MAIN TASKS
TIME COMMITMENT:
A regular commitment of at least half a day per week for 2 months.
TRAINING:
You will receive training on our telephone contact procedures, which includes how to structure a supportive and friendly conversation, adhering to data protection and safeguarding protocols, and how to signpost to other services.
SUPPORT:
A named member of the team will be your day-to-day support and we will ask that you commit to a group de-brief at the end of each shift.
REFERENCES:
Two references are required.
DBS:
As this role involves supporting adults with care and support needs an enhanced DBS check is required.
EXPENSES:
Reimbursement of telephone expenses
No qualifications or experience required
Volunteers are required to complete an enhanced police check (DBS), Islington Council’s Online Adult Safeguarding training and read the HNG Volunteer Induction Handbook.
