Volunteering at Stress Project

Hi,

I’m Anna and I started volunteering at the Stress Project as an Administrative Assistant in November 2016.
On my first day I shadowed the team at the drop-in service.
I was a bit nervous and unsure what to expect but everyone was very friendly and welcoming. What struck me most was how beneficial the drop-in service was to members of the local community who were experiencing distress.
The warm and welcoming atmosphere and the range of treatments on offer from reflexology to reiki to massage really help clients who are feeling distraught.
I also had the chance to attend the free Mindfulness class on a Thursday afternoon which I really enjoyed and left me feeling very relaxed!
In the office the next day there was a lot to learn from getting to grips with the range of services on offer to familiarising myself with a Mac which I’d never used before.
Carol and Daniel were great at helping me find my feet. Volunteering is a really rewarding experience as it gives you the chance to help your local community, learn new skills and meet new people.
 I would highly recommend it!
