The greenhouse has now been put into full use and is brimming with tomato and chillies, seedlings and cuttings, donated and planted by Julie, Louise and Brenda. We intend to have a plant sale later in the summer, to raise funds for the Stress Project's gardening club.
In the front garden, the Ivy and the Lime tree have been cut back and Julie has done a wonderful job of clearing the raised bed of rubbish, ready for planting.
The annual BBQ on the 21st of July was packed graced by the presence of the Deputy Mayor. Everyone had a great time in the sunshine, ate the delicious food contributed by all - salads, cakes and more - and accompanied by wonderful music from music for people. Carol the manager was Queen of the BBQ, and the whole day was a triumph!
Another new local volunteer, Nathan, started in early August and he has been very helpful, planting beans beside the greenhouse and helping with other essential tasks.
Louise has been bringing in vegetables from her allotment to make lunch and is doing a free jam-making workshop on the 12th August from 11am - 2pm, using the glut of fruit from her allotment . . . so please come and join us!
