As you may, or may not know, we’ve recently been awarded funding by People’s Postcode Trust to run a series of free Mindfulness courses and Drop-in classes. To celebrate, we held a tea party in our Therapy Centre with it's beautiful Victorian walled garden. Amongst the guests, we were thrilled that our new Mayor, Una O’ Halloran was able to join us during her first week in office, as well as our friend and supporter Councillor Janet Burgess MBE. Lucy spoke to the group to outline details of the funding and how the Stress Project is developing Mindfulness within the community, and Carol gave a very informative talk about Mindfulness itself. Mayor O’Halloran addressed the party and imparted her knowledge as her daughter regularly practices and is a firm believer in the benefits of Mindfulness. Then one of our volunteers, Catherine, facilitated a Mindfulness meditation session, in which everyone took part and enjoyed. Lastly, before mingling and enjoying more tea and delicious cakes, Mayor O’Halloran gave a few last words thanking People’s Postcode Trust for supporting and funding such important health activities in our and other local communities.
